The purpose of AANZGOSA is to promote and facilitate dialogue, communication, and collaboration between specialist oesophago‑gastric (OG) surgeons and aligned health professionals.

The Association was established in 2007, evolving from a series of informal meetings among surgeons who recognised both the inherent complexities of OG surgery and the value of collegial discussion within a formal structure. AANZGOSA is a registered charity.

The underlying goal of AANZGOSA is to achieve the highest quality care for OG surgical patients across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand.

OG surgeons hold FRACS in General Surgery and have substantial additional experience in oesophageal and gastric surgery, including dedicated post‑fellowship training. Members uphold the highest possible standards.
